Christmas

Merry Christmas! I know it's not December, but Thanksgiving is over and I've already decorated for Christmas. I have a few thoughts for our December book, but I'm open to suggestions. My mission president during Christmas always reads the sections in Jesus the Christ that apply to Christ's birth, then the Atonement sections during Easter. I've tried to do it every year, so that's one suggestion. The other, is reading A Christmas Carol. Thoughts?

November

Now that I've finally gotten a notice from the library telling me our last book is ready for pick up, it's probably time to choose a book for November (and maybe December). Who's up?? P.S. Happy belated birthdays, Cam and Randi!

Better late than never....

Sorry to take so long. I think I was kind of hoping I would think of another book. I didn't. And so I'm choosing The Book of Mormon Girl. Have you heard of it? I want to read it. And I never will unless it's for book club.

One reason I'm choosing it is that it's short. Less than 200 pages.

One reason I'm choosing it is that someone told me that despite questions, she is faithful.

One reason I'm choosing it is that thing that Jesus said... something in Matthew about the second coming and the last days and that people would be tricked about who Christ was... and that makes me think of all the times the doctrine and covenants talks about people being deceived...

I'm not sure if I have a point, but I think that it's important to remain faithful even when we are confused. There's a lot we don't know.

I'd like to read about this lady's experience.

The end.

The Night Circus

I'm not gonna lie, I didn't love the ending. Plus, there were times I got confused by the jumping around. BUT, I had to return the book to the library, so I devoted an entire weekend to finishing it. I can't remember the last time I did that. It was so fun! And it was an entertaining enough book that it was worth the lazy weekend.

I have two minutes....

Okay, the book has been chosen, but no time for fancy links, pictures, or descriptions.  Sorry!  The books is "The Night Circus" by Erin Morgenstern.  I lied...here is a link (but it isn't fancy):

I love you all and I'm sorry for neglecting this little book club that I love so much!  It is time to be disciplined!  If any of you need help being disciplined, you might want to consider joining my Accountability Club.  ;)  Let me know if you are interested.

July???

Does anybody else feel like this year is flying by? I honestly don't know where the time has gone. You guys must be feeling the same because we skipped June without even batting an eye...
So I propose we rededicate ourselves. How do you feel about choosing a summer book? It can cover both July and August and be as deep or as shallow as you wish.
Who's with me?! And who's up?

May Day!

Okay girls, here it is.  The Scarlet Pimpernel.  I mentioned this at the wedding and I was talking with my mom about it and decided I really do want to read it.  Randi, I think you're gonna love it!  Hopefully you all haven't read this already, but I do have another one in mind just in case, so let me know.  I have always loved this musical and the songs from it, so I want to see if the book can live up to that.  I've heard it's really enjoyable.  In case you don't know the story, here is a quick overview.

Armed with only his wits and his cunning, one man recklessly defies the French revolutionaries and  rescues scores of innocent men, women, and children from the deadly guillotine. His friends and foes know him only as the Scarlet Pimpernel. But the ruthless French agent Chauvelin is sworn to discover his identity and to hunt him down.

Obviously there is a lot more to the story, but I think most of us know the plot, and if we don't, then this is a good little teaser.

It was so fun to see you all for the wedding.  Cam, I'm so sad I missed you and Charlie!  We'll have to make those get togethers a more regular thing.  Love you girls!  Happy reading!
