I just don't know.

I just don't know exactly how to explain my feelings about this book. Part of me wants to say I'm not a fan, but then the fact that the author is a dying (now deceased) man trying to leave his last words of advice to his children, makes you feel guilty saying anything bad about the book. If it weren't for the fact that this man wrote the book while dying of cancer, I'd really dislike the book. It jumps around like crazy and I even think he repeats himself quite a bit. You know the expression 'drinking water from a fire hose'? That is how I feel. Lots of good thoughts and things I should apply, but there is just so much of it! Does anyone else feel this way? Am I a horrible person?

I remember when his lecture came out. I think it was pretty inspiring. But, I'm kind of with you on this, Cam. He has some good insights, but there's also a part of me that keeps asking "who are you to tell me the correct way to live?". I sound like a brat, but my opinion is that while his attitude about dying is inspiring, his book probably should have been written just for his children.

I'm all for living your childhood dreams, but I would never let my kids paint their walls like his mom did! Ha. There were parts of the book I really liked, and it made me want to watch the real lecture. Overall, I liked it.

Amen to the room Deb! I'm in the middle of the book and I've really liked a lot of it. Actually I used a quote from it in my lesson in RS last Sunday. :) I keep trying to picture him actually saying all of this in a lecture. You're right though Cam, he does repeat himself a lot. All I know is that now I just want to go to carnivals all the time and see if I can win the biggest stuffed animal!
P.S. It's my turn next month, right? I haven't seen Anjanette on here lately, but I didn't want to take her turn. Anyone?

Good question about Anjanette. I am guessing that she isn't going to choose one, but Anjanette if you can hear me, we'd love to have you choose.
Back to the book...I think I would enjoy the real lecture more than the book, because obviously the lecture is a shorter version of the book, so it included the things he thinks are MOST important.
